Foothill’s Griffith Gates heading to Penn
Foothill’s fullback and defensive end Griffith Gates (’13) announced on Twitter that he will be heading to the University of Pennsylvania:
Officially going to University of Pennsylvania for Football admitted into Wharton School of business!
— Griffith Gates (@griffgates) January 18, 2013
Gates is coming off a fantastic career at Foothill, and ran for 857 yards and nine touchdowns on 162 carries this past season. This included a 27-carry, 143-yard, 2-touchdown performance in a 28-17 first-round playoff win over Deer Valley. Foothill was 6-6 and a NCS Division I quarterfinalist.
Gates was first team EBAL defensive lineman and an honorable mention back.
Gates may likely play defense at Penn and he was a two-star player on Scout.com as a middle linebacker. Gates, as a defensive end disrupted opposing offenses all season long, including the Falcons 21-14 win versus Monte Vista that we broadcasted on Bay Preps.
