The NCS Championships will be held at Hayward High School on Saturday, and we’ve tried to track down as many coaches as possible heading into the race.
The CCS cross country championships will be held at Crystal Springs in Belmont on Saturday. We’ve talked to a few coaches leading up to the big event.
Women’s Volleyball
Palo Alto (28-3, 10-0) at Los Gatos (21-7, 8-1) – Vikings look to win another SCVAL De Anza title
Foothill (27-6, 10-2) at Carondelet (15-13, 7-5) – Foothill clinches at least a share of league title with a win
California (18-5, 9-3) at Monte Vista (19-13, 6-6)
Saint Ignatius (18-11, 3-3) at Sacred Heart Cathedral (26-7, 3-3) – WCAL Quarters – WATCH ON BAY PREPS
Women’s Volleyball
Saint Francis (23-4, 4-1) at Mitty (21-7, 3-2) – BAY PREPS LIVE BROADCAST – APPROX. 6:30
Moreau Catholic (17-6, 10-0) at Bishop O’Dowd (18-9, 9-1)
The favorites, the Bellarmine men and Presentation women, took home the team titles at the WCAL #2 at Crystal Springs.
The Bells were running without a couple of their top runners and didn’t place any runners in the top five, but Jose Sandoval was 6th and Bellarmine’s top five finished amongst the top 13 overall. Individually, Sean Davis of Valley Christian was first, followed by Mitty’s Richard Guzikowski and Serra’s Joey Berriatua. In the team standings, Saint Ignatius was second and Saint Francis finished third.
Women’s Volleyball
Sacred Heart Cathedral (19-6, 0-3) at Valley Christian (16-8, 0-2)
Saint Francis (15-2, 2-0) at Saint Ignatius (16-6, 2-1)
The Dons boys team placed 46th in the Clovis Invitational and Tyler Troxel was eighth with a time of 16:03, while the Acalanes girls were 14th with the top finisher being Annie Marggraff, who was 29th.
The Trojan girls won the Castro Valley Invitational, finishing 39 points in front of second place Livermore. Other schools of note were Carondelet placing 6th, San Leandro 7th, and Alhambra 8th.
Individually, Westmoor’s Kylie Goo finished almost six seconds in front of Livermore’s Natalie Dimits. James Logan’s Tiffany Monsulad and the Trojans’ Nicole Anthony were third and fourth, respectively.
The Panthers, two days after winning the WCAL, placed 44th out of over 150 schools at the Clovis Invitational.
