Golf: Mission San Jose, Alameda’s Carly Childs take NorCal Championship (AUDIO)

Mission San Jose (400) won the NorCal Championship at Stanford University Golf Club by 14 strokes over Amador Valley (414), a week after the Dons finished five strokes ahead of the Warriors in the NCS title

Individually, Carly Childs followed up her NCS title with a 71, finishing one stroke ahead of the Warriors’ Monica Chen, Evergreen’s Hannah Suh, Gunn’s Anna Zhou, and Kathleen Scavo of Justin-Siena.

Golf: SI wins CCS, takes odd playoff (AUDIO)

Saint Ignatius and Valley Christian both shot 425’s at Rancho Canada in Carmel Valley to tie for first place in the CCS Championships, but when the top five golfers from each team were needed to compete in a playoff, one of Valley Christian’s players was off to a dance recital, couldn’t return in time, and Saint Ignatius was proclaimed the winner.  Mitty finished third with a 427, while Presentation shot a 436 for fourth, Saint Francis made it an all-WCAL top five with a 442.  Also, in the top ten, Lynbrook shot a 475 for eighth place.

For SI, this was their fourth consecutive CCS title.

Golf: Amador Valley wins second straight NCS Division I Championship (AUDIO)

At Los Positas Golf Course in Livermore, the Amador Valley ladies won an NCS Championship for the second straight year, and each time they were five strokes closer than their closest competitor.  The Dons scored a 387, while Mission San Jose tallied a 392, and Alameda, who was second last year, placed third with a 411.

Individually, Alameda’s Carly Childs blew away the field with a 64, while the next closest competitor, Justin-Siena’s Kathleen Scavo, was seven strokes back.  The Hornets placed two in the top three as Samantha Moyal scored a 72.

Golf: Saint Ignatius wins 10th straight WCAL crown (AUDIO)

SI and Valley Christian both finished with 10-2 records during the regular season round-robin schedule, but the Wildcats got the better of the Warriors Christian in the WCAL tournament on Monday.  SI (414) won their tenth consecutive West Catholic Athletic League title, as they finished thirteen strokes in front of VC (427) and were again led by the Wong twins.

Golf: Mission San Jose, Granada’s Ahn post best scores at NCS Division I Qualifier (AUDIO)

At Franklin Canyon Golf Course in Hercules, Mission San Jose posted the top score at the NCS Division I Qualifier with a 405, while Granada’s Yuri Ahn finished with a 73 to lead all players.  Miramonte’s Jessica Goldstein and Elizabeth Schultz of Acalanes each finished a stroke back of Ahn.

Among the teams that qualified for NCS today along with the Warriors were Foothill, who was second, Granada placed third, and the top five was rounded out by Carondelet and Miramonte.  The others were Monte Vista, Campolindo, Acalanes, Deer Valley, San Ramon Valley, Eureka, and Dougherty Valley.  They’ll join the automatic qualifiers, such as Alameda and defending champ Amador Valley.

Golf: Justin-Siena Wins NCS Division II Title (AUDIO)
October 24, 2011

At Chuck Corica Golf Course in Alameda, Justin-Siena (357) won the NCS Division II championship by two strokes over McKinleyville (359).  Arcata’s 369 was good enough for third.

Individually, McKinleyville’s MacKenzie Ford won the championship with a 75, which was a stroke better than Arcata’s Brittany Bisgrove, and two strokes better than Bentley’s Sydney Babiak and Justin-Siena’s Kathleen Scavo.

Golf: Childs, Alameda blow away the field at ACCAL Tourney (AUDIO)

Alameda (408) finished 130 strokes in front of second place Berkeley (538) at Franklin Canyon Golf Course, while Carly Childs shot a 1-under 71 to win the individual title in the Alameda Contra Costa Athletic League.  Also for the Hornets, Samantha Moyal tallied a 78 for second place, and was also named the ACCAL Player of the Year.  Marissa Yao shot a 79 as the Hornets ran away from the competition.
