Wrestling: 2012 College Signings
April 4, 2012

2012 NCS Champion De La Salle has two wrestlers who have committed to college thus far. Joe Moita finished third in the California State Tournament this year and has verbally agreed to continue his wrestling career at Columbia University. Along with Moita, Justin Walker has also made his college decision. Walker finished fifth at state this year and has signed to continue his wrestling career at Cal Poly SLO. De La Salle outscored the runner up, College Park, at NCS by 130.5 points and finished fourth at state in 2012. The Spartans will be led by returning state placer Jon Jay Chavez (10th) in an attempt to win their fifth straight team title.

NCS Wrestling Rankings

-Dan Geraldi

Let me apologize in advance if I did not report on all the head-to-head results out there.  I tried getting brackets from all tournaments that NCS teams have been present at, but simply could not get them all.  As a result, the rankings may have some gaps.  Feel free to send me an email (daniel@geraldi-law.com) if you think there is an error and I will try to correct it in my next (and final) ranking of the season, which will come out shortly after MSJ.

NCS Wrestling Rankings
December 28, 2011

-Dan Geraldi

These rankings remain uncertain because, even though many tournaments have happened, most of the top ranked wrestlers in the NCS have still not faced each other in head-to-head matches.  Comparing a wrestler’s successes at a tournament that other wrestlers did not compete at, is highly subjective.  This will hopefully change, however, as we get to more of the tough tournaments within the NCS (such as Puma, Windsor and eventually MSJ) where top guys will step on the mat against each other.  As always, accept my apology if you believe I have overlooked someone or got something wrong.  Feel free to send me an email (daniel@geraldi-law.com) with your thought and comments if you want me to try to correct something when I do the next ranking.  I appreciate all the help and comments that people have given me as well as the brackets that tournament directors have sent me.

With help from others, I have also tried to do a projection on team scores and team rankings, which you will find at the end of this posting.

Updated NCS Wrestling Rankings
December 13, 2011

Included is the weight that the wrestler has certified for, which is indicated in the bracket next to his name.  A few wrestlers have still not yet certified. In that case, a “NC” (for not certified) is next to their weight, and the weight is what they went at NCS last year.
